Announcement of merger of The Oaklands Practice, Yateley Medical Centre with Hartley Corner Surgery, Blackwater

Here at The Oaklands Practice, we work very hard to try to provide an excellent service and feedback from local people is generally favourable. We might not get things right all the time but, given the limitations on the funding provided to us, our patients do not have to experience the difficulties experienced by patients in many other parts of the country, if the national press is to be believed.
In order to maintain and, indeed, improve our quality of service in the future, given the tight financial constraints within the NHS and the growing demands being placed on Primary Care, the Partners have, after considerable consideration, decided that local people’s interests would best be served if we merged with Hartley Corner Surgery in Blackwater. Joining with this practice, which is a similar size to ourselves and which also has a very good reputation locally, will put us in a stronger position to weather the significant challenges facing the NHS both nationally and locally. The new practice, which will continue to operate on both sites, will be able to take advantage of economies of scale and shared expertise as well as having a larger voice in working to redesign local healthcare for the future. Patients will be able to continue to see their own GP.
The practise will merge on 1st April 2016 but before this date, we are keen to talk to patients to understand what concerns we need to take into account and also what aspirations local people have for this exciting new project.
We will be publishing regular website updates and newsletters and our consultation process continues with members of both practices’ Patient Participation Groups.
If you would like to be involved in these consultations then please do sign up to join the group - either on the website or ask for more details at Reception.
